Case Study Details

Client: Anonymous

Female, 32 years old

Start Date:

September 22, 2024

Case:

Abuse

Total Duration

8 months

Presenting Issue: Neglect or emotional abandonment & constant criticism, name-calling, shaming

The client grew up in a household where emotional abuse was present. Her parent frequently criticised, belittled, and ignored her emotional needs. As an adult, she struggled with intense self-doubt, fear of abandonment, and anxiety.

Therapeutic approach

Used a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Inner Child Work. Early sessions focused on identifying and challenging distorted beliefs (“I am not good enough”). Later sessions included role-playing boundary-setting and processing trauma memories through guided imagery.

Progress and outcome

After 8 months of weekly therapy, the client reported a significant drop in anxiety symptoms and began asserting herself in relationships. She started journaling regularly and joined a support group for adult survivors of abuse.
