Work-Related Stress & Burnout
Ongoing
Presenting Issue: Chronic work stress, irritability, difficulty relaxing.
The client worked in a high-pressure corporate role with long hours and minimal work-life balance. She experienced constant tension, poor sleep, and feelings of emotional exhaustion. She felt “on edge” most of the time and noticed growing impatience with her family. Despite this, she struggled to say no or take time off.
Used Stress-Inoculation Training (SIT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Initial sessions focused on identifying automatic thoughts driving perfectionism and fear of failure. Later work included guided relaxation, values clarification, and practicing assertive communication to renegotiate boundaries at work.
After 10 sessions, the client successfully reduced her working hours and began using mindfulness techniques during the day. Her irritability decreased, and she resumed hobbies she had previously abandoned. She reported feeling “more in control and less reactive.”
